COREL DRAW vs. PHOTOSHOP

This is my first typography using Corel Draw X4...
I don't really find it appealing, it seems like there's something that's missing...
I've been using Corel Draw to work on my task here at Steorra.
Thanks to Ate Leslie, for teaching some of the tricks with Corel, ;)

About the content:

Judge Not is a song popularized by Bob Marley.
The lyrics really hit me, especially right now that we Filipinos were experiencing
criticism because of the bus siege that had happened a few days ago.
I like the lyrics because it has a simple yet straight-forward thought.
So to all the people out there, JUDGE NOT!....and before you point your fingers,
MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAN..... :))

BABY TAZ with the bubble bath....

Hmm another wonderful day from work...
I was supposed to post my designed T-shirt lay outs that I've been working out these past few days but then I've seen this image from my portfolio. So i decided to post it,first on my facebook account then here. Well, this artwork was about 3 or 4 months ago. When I was still working at Metro Publishing House as a Lay-out Artist. back then, During my spare time. I was watching video tutorials about coloring using Adobe Photoshop then tried doing one. And I've also seen different scribbles made by a good friend Nellie Serrano, She's really great in doing stuffs like this and got a lot of patience to draw everything from scratch. Wish i could learn to draw better also. Hahaha and BABY TAZ is my most fave character from looney tunes because I love the irony that the Tazmanian Devil portrays a wild, and strong character while the BABY TAZ was a lovely one.

Here Comes the Bride: A review.

“Laughin’ out Loud… Another pinoy-comedy film that would tickle and definitely leave you a smile.”
Here Comes the Bride: A review.
By Annette S. Sarmiento

As she constantly serves a pinch of joy in Banana Split: Daily Servings, Angelica Panganiban offers another heap of comedy and laughter as one of the lead stars on Star Cinema’s latest summer offering on the movie: “Here comes the Bride”. With some of today’s best comedian such as Eugene Domingo, Tuesday Vargas, John Lapus, and one of the film industry’s finest actor, Jaime Fabregas. Together, they’ll make you laughin’ out loud with the film’s humorous and surprising twists and turns.

What will happen when an accident suddenly turns everything not in order?

After the accident happened on their way to the wedding venue, in midst of a strange magnetic highway during a phenomenal solar eclipse, they also have their lives taken over when they’re souls got re-arranged. Since it triggered to have their souls to go out of their respective bodies and transfer to the bodies of different people:

Stephanie (Angelica Panganiban) a sweet and old-fashioned bride to be, turned out into a daring, flirty sexy woman when the soul of the gay beautician Tofee (John Lapus) shifted to her body. Meanwhile, the soul of the sweet and shy Stephanie was shifted to the body of her Ninang Precy,

(Eugene Domingo) one of her principal sponsor. She is brilliant and dignified attorney, who happened to shift her soul to the body of a promdi nanny Yaya (Tuesday Vargas) of the spoiled brat ring-bearer. However, Yayas soul, was shifted to the body of Jaime Fabregas, the 69 year old man who doesn’t to have a social life. Then the body of Tofee (John Lapus) trapped the soul of grand father of the groom Harold (Tom Rodriguez from PBB Double UP housemate) who instantly became energized as he enjoyed being a young man again.

Looking at the big picture, and to the man behind the camera.

The strange incident happened to helped each characters to lived on another else’s shoe, and somehow let them to manage and solved their personal issues. Giving a creative and sensible story plot, the actors opened up a new perspective on their careers as they displayed their versatility as they portrayed different roles. Definitely, the film turned out to be as expected to tickle every Filipino viewers and leave them with a big smile. And also the settings, exemplifies another beauty of the Philippines since the setting was mostly shoot on a wonderful white sand beach. Another success from a Cinemalaya filmmaker and writer, Chris Martinez for the film have been rated B by the Cinema Evaluation Board. The elements were intensely catered by the production of Star Cinema, in cooperation with OctoArts and Quantum films. And this film absolutely deserves two-thumbs up!!

I am writer, who writes a smile on every heart....♥

This literary piece was published on our college paper; Summer Special issue on the year 2009.
I considered it as one of my favorite written piece because after reading it, they would simply say that:
"Its so you!..." We'll they are right because writing reflects the real me. And with my literary works, I usually express my moods, visions and feelings i suppressed. Anyways, why prolonged the agony?. Here is it, ISANG PAHINANG PAPEL written by yours Truly... Enjoy Reading. :)

Isang Pahinang Papel
by smile_16

GIVES YOU HELL
By All American Rejects

I wake up every evening
With a big smile on my face
And it never feels out of place.
And you're still probably working
At a 9 to 5 pace
I wonder how bad that tastes

When you see my face
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell
When you walk my way
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell

Now where's your picket fence love
And where's that shiny car
Did it ever get you far?
You ever seem so dead slow
Never seen you fall so hard
Do you know where you are?

Truth be told I miss you
Truth be told I'm lying

When you see my face
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell
When you walk my way
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell
If you find a man that's worth the damn and treats you well
Then he's a fool you're just as well hope it gives you hell
Hope it gives you hell

Tomorrow you'll be thinking to yourself
Where did it all go wrong?
But the list goes on and on
Truth be told I miss you
Truth be told I'm lying

When you see my face
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell
When you walk my way,
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell
If you find a man that's worth the damn and treats you well
Then he's a fool you're just as well hope it gives you hell

Now you'll never see
What you've done to me
You can take back your memories
They're no good to me
And here's all your lies
If you look me in the eyes
With the sad, sad look
That you wear so well

When you see my face
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell
When you walk my way
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell
If you find a man that's worth the damn and treats you well
Then he's a fool you're just as well hope it gives you hell

When you see my face
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell (hope it gives you hell)
When you walk my way
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell (hope it gives you hell)
When you hear this song and you sing along well you'll never tell
And you're the fool I've just as well I hope it gives you hell
When you hear this song I hope that it will give you hell
You can sing along I hope it puts you through hell......

And i also searched for this song lyrics, so you could even sing along with it, as I take you to the roller coaster ride of music, songs, and lyrics with a taste of GLEE. Enjoy watching. =)
GLEE airs every Wednesday Evening right after American Idol on Star World.

Here at Metro.

I currently work as a graphic artist here at Metro Publishing House. My workplace is just a few steps away from my alma mater Angeles University Foundation. I opted to apply here, and tried my luck since the place wasn't really new to me and the traveling time was great since it would only take me around 20-30 mins. to get here. I think its better so I could avoid being LATE. :)

If you'll ask me what am I doing here, well as a writer. I don't know. But as an IT professional, I am here to learn more.

"As Professionals, you should learn to separate YOURSELF from your Roles."

I've learned this during the graduation day, from the speech of our honorable guest speaker Fr. Bienvenido F. Nebrez S.J (President, Ateneo De Manila). It was not actually the same exact words or phrase but its the same thought that I understood it. And right now, its what am trying to exercise, To become as effective employee as I can be. You might be surprised why am here as a graphic artist when I am a self proclaimed writer, the answer is because it is my role here. and myself i left it at home, shut down with my pc waiting till i arrived and write another post again, sounds crazy isn't but that's the way I sees it. :)

My roles here aren't more than what you've expected or even i had imagine. Each time we had our clients then when all the requested orders/ products are already approved and finalized I just need to make sure that all specifications are correct before they would be ready for printing. We offer various printing services such as News Letters, Letterheads and Envelopes,Business Cards,Posters, Brochures, Computer Forms, Yearbooks and Annuals, Receipts. Most of the time we used Corel Draw Graphics Suite 12 and Microsoft office Publisher for our projects, I find it really challenging since i am more used working with Adobe Photoshop. During my spare time, im working on with some tutorials on the web since I am not at school anymore the web now is my new teacher. I find it really fulfilling each time I see my outputs. Maybe that's one thing I enjoyed much with my degree as an IT graduate, your learning does not simply ends with books and lectures but its more on application of skills and it seeks development. So to all the readers out there, maximize the resources you could utilizes on the web and find time to check out something new and latest trends in technology coz I believe;

"The more you know, the little you know...So never get tired of learning. ;) "
That's all for now folks, and thanks for reading my blogpost. Check out my embedded link below for the latest news about the Launching of the Adobe Photoshop CS 5. Enjoy reading. ;)

My first blog entry after all the busy days here comes: Graduation!!!

At last, after four years of hard work, and struggles. I SURVIVED. I am now a certified young professional. On the 14th of April 2010, was our commencement exercises... Our much awaited graduation day. A day to look back on my four years as a college student, a day to look forward on a career we will be building. Definitely, Its our time to give back, all the big thanks to our dear parents and loving family who strive and work with us to have a better education. and this is the same moments, better moments shared with your good friends you've met along the way. My college life is finally over, no more cramming with those handbooks and assignment, no more long quizzes for our lectures, surprise exams on a math class, and no more final project for a hands-on laboratory class. I am now be facing a new phase of my life, And be one of the great students in an institution of dreams, experiences, and mistakes the so called REAL WORLD...

Right now, I felt like I am starting my life over again. Since, the doors of my Student Life had finally closed. I have to look around the windows opened for opportunities to start out for my career. With our Industry Internship Program, it helped me to realized to what are the things I love doing, things I can do, and the things that I should be learning so that I could possibly do it. I know, its far off different from the life of being a student, but as I walked through this new journey, I felt more blessed and thankful. Because I believe, I would not be able to march up on that stage, and kissed my diploma with cheers and joy without the help of my parents, family, classmates, and friends. And of course, without the love and guidance of our Dear God who continuously blessed me with the strength and courage that I need.

For now, I would be ending this blog post filled with my thoughts of happiness, hopes, and gratefulness. and I would be sharing a simple quote that sums up this entry:

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin--real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."--- Alfred D. Souza

thanks for reading...until next time :)

My First Typography Artwork

TYPOGRAPHY

This is my first typography artwork, and i find it a little messy. The design is actually based from the tutorial I've learned from the web,I found it from You Tube video tutorial in typography;Tutorial:Typography in GIMP. To share more information about Typography, I browse from several resources on the web then came out with these conclusion:

ty-pog-ra-phy [tahy-pog-ruh-fee]

--it is considered art that involves the arranging, type, type design, and modifying glyphs. Typography traces its origins to the first punches and dies used to make seals and currency during the ancient times. They are created through different illustrations and techniques using various typefaces as means of visual communication.

My First Entry

This is my first entry for my blogspot account... I decided to create one to serve as a medium of my published and unpublished works. I am a writer, a poet to be specific. It is my way of expressing myself. I write whenever im broke,or whenever im happy, and I love what I'm doing. But for now i tried not too fill this account with those emo stuffs. I prefer to post entries that would reflect the professional writer not a cry-baby.I am looking forward to share knowledge and new ideas for my future readers and make my entries somehow sensible. Well for know, I would want to end this entry with some words of wisdom inspired by a well-known author of several successful books he had written.

Quoted from Paulo Coelho's Book "Like the Flowing River."

"Even when a friend does something you does not like, He continues to be your Friend."
